Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk on setting a date for the Bishops’ Council

On April 17, the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church resolved that the date of the Bishops’ Council be put off. Earlier it was intended to hold the Council from May 26 to 29.The reason for this decision and the time when a new date can be set for the Bishops’ Council was explained to the viewers of the Church and the World TV program by the Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk.

Synodal Biblical-Theological Commission meets in session

On June 22, the Synodal Biblical-Theological Commission of the Russian Orthodox Church met for a plenary session at the Ss Cyril and Methodius Institute of Post-Graduate Studies. The meeting was held in a mixed mode with face-to-face and distant participation of the Commission members. It was chaired by Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk.

Bishops’ Council of the Russian Orthodox Church to take place in November 2021

During the session held on 29th December 2020, the Holy Synod members discussed an issue of convening the Bishops’ Council of the Russian Orthodox Church in 2021 (Minutes No. 103). The Holy Synod resolved to convene the next Bishops’ Council on 15th – 18th November 2021.
